I love YouTube and I will admit without a shadow of a doubt that this is my favorite video platform on the Internet. Unfortunately, I cannot help but notice the changes that the service has been gradually introducing for years. One of them is the expansion of the methods of content monetization and my time spent on the service. The biggest problem is, of course, advertising.
These partly depend on the creators, but YouTube itself has a lot to say about when and how often we will watch projections from sponsors and advertisers. It has come to the point that today I can’t imagine using the platform without YouTube Premium – there are just too many ads. But this time they really went too far.
YouTube ads even when paused
It appeared on YouTube new type of advertising. The platform is already able to show us banners during… pause. If you’ve paused the video because you have to do something important or you just want to take a break from the screen, ad blocks will start appearing on it. It looks like this:
