We’re almost at the end of the year, which means it’s time for the year’s recap content to start rolling out. I first reports of users who received their Recap started around November 15th. Since then, a growing number of users have received it and YouTube has confirmed which if you don’t have it yet, you should see it soon.
YouTube has put in a lot of new goodies to provide more interesting insights into how and what you’ve been listening to over the past 11 months. These new features include:
- Improved Seasonal Summaries: before, recaps only provided a big summary for the year. This time, the summary shows you how your tastes change based on the season.
- Video monitoring: the 2024 recap now tracks your music video viewing habits.
- Improved sharing: Listening statistics are now presented more like a story, making them easier to share.
- Context: the 2024 recap delves a little deeper than before, offering insights into when and why you played certain songs.
- Google Photos integration: users can connect their listening history with their photo library. An artificial intelligence creates photo albums by matching your favorite songs to photos it thinks are relevant. You can also review these albums and make changes if necessary.
There should be a banner in the app that says “Your 2024 Recap is here” if it is ready. But if you haven’t seen it yet, you can try by tapping your profile avatar in the top corner, going to “Your Recap” and tap “Get your recap“.
