YouTube Premium price goes up: from November for subscribers

Google is raising the price of YouTube Premium by 2 to 8 euros per month. It is not yet clear when the new price will take effect.

UPDATE – This price increase also applies to people who already have a subscription: Google sent out emails today to tell people that the price will increase from November. As of the November invoice, you will also pay more for YouTube Premium as a subscriber.

Original article – Soon, you will no longer pay €11.99 for an individual subscription to YouTube Premium, but €13.99. Students will no longer pay €6.99, but €8.99. The price for a family subscription will increase the most, from €17.99 to €25.99.

You will also pay more for YouTube Music. The price for an individual subscription will increase from €6.99 to €10.99. The Music Family subscription will increase from €14.99 to €17.99.

It is not yet known when the new prices will go into effect. The prices can already be found on the websites of YouTube and YouTube Music, as spotted by website Tweakers. Subscribers just haven’t received a message about it yet.

Where is the cheap subscription?

YouTube Premium removes all ads from the video service and gives you access to YouTube Music. You can also play videos in the background, watch in picture-in-picture, and get extra picture quality (1080p Premium).

Previously, Google offered YouTube Lite, a cheaper subscription for just removing ads. Since October 2023, this subscription is no longer available. Earlier this year, Google promised to come up with ‘more subscription options’ and ‘new subscriptions’. So far, that has not happened.
