YouTube quietly raises prices for Premium subscriptions

YouTube is raising prices for Premium subscriptions by three to eight euros per month. The video service has not yet shared an official statement about the price increase.

YouTube Premium will become euros more expensive per month

Anyone who wants to watch YouTube videos undisturbed can take out a Premium subscription. You can then watch without advertising. Until recently, you paid around 6.99 euros to 17.99 euros per month for this, depending on the type of subscription. YouTube is now increasing the prices for Dutch Premium users by a substantial amount, as discovered Tweakers.

YouTube Premium has three different subscriptions. The cheapest is Premium Student, which goes from €6.99 to 8.99 euros per month has been increased. The Premium Individual subscription goes from 11.99 euros to 13.99 euros per month. The most expensive subscription will cost a lot more: YouTube Premium Family initially cost 17.99 euros and is now going to 25.99 euros per month.

The new monthly amounts can be found on the YouTube website and on the YouTube Music website, because the music streaming service is also getting higher subscription costs. The Music Individual subscription goes from 6.99 euros to 10.99 euros per month. You now pay for the Music Family subscription 17.99 euros per monthinstead of 14.99 euros. There is also a Music Student subscription for 5.99 euros per month.

YouTube doesn’t give a clear start to the new monthly prices, but states on the website that new subscribers get the first month of Premium for free and then pay the increased price. It is therefore likely that the new prices will go into effect for more subscribers this coming month, but Google has not yet said anything about this.
