Yuhan Foundation awards winners of the 33rd Jae-ra Yoo Service Award

(Health Korea News / Lee Si-woo) The Yuhan Foundation (Chairman Kim Joong-soo), which is practicing the noble management philosophy of Dr. Ilhan Yoo, the founder of Yuhan Corporation, held the 33rd Jae-ra Yoo Service Award Ceremony at the main training room on the 4th floor of Yuhan Corporation in Daebang-dong, Seoul on the morning of the 18th.

This year’s awards were given to Professor Emeritus Song Kyeong-ae of Catholic University College of Nursing in the nursing category, Song Mi-kyung, a teacher at Daejeon Blind School, in the education category, and Go Hee-kyung, director of Hourglass Oriental Medicine Clinic, and Moon Young-sook, CEO of Yangpyeong Hospice Association, in the welfare category.

In his greeting, Chairman Kim Joong-soo said, “I believe the reason why everyone here is respected for their activities is because they have taken the lead in leading our society in the direction of creating intangible assets that respect the value of life.” “We look forward to you continuing to take the lead as activities rise like wildfire and make our society healthier,” he said.

#Nursing category winner Song Kyung-ae worked as a nurse since 1979 and devoted herself to a nursing educator until her retirement in 2021. She was recognized as a true nurse who practiced the spirit of sharing with neighbors in need, migrant workers, and patients in underdeveloped countries by going beyond volunteering at an individual level and persuading willing people to form a medical team.

#Education category winner Song Mi-kyung lost her vision due to a rare and incurable disease called ‘Behcet’ while attending teachers’ college in 2003. However, she overcame her visual impairment and was hired as a special education teacher, where she worked for 21 years. It was recognized for supporting safe and happy dormitory life for visually impaired students, providing individual support to students with difficult family circumstances, and working to advance the human rights movement for the disabled and the development of special education for the visually impaired through the operation of a marriage counseling center.

#Welfare category winner Go Hee-kyung, a volunteer, became an Oriental medicine doctor in 1993 and has devoted herself to medical volunteer work in Malawi, Kenya, and Cote Ivoire in Africa, starting with medical volunteer work in doctor-free villages in Korea. In particular, it was highly praised for taking the lead in spreading the value and reward of sharing activities, such as building a hospital, providing equipment and medical supplies to patients suffering from Buruli ulcer, an endemic disease in West Africa.

#Volunteer Youngsook Moon, another winner in the welfare category, founded an organization called the Yangpyeong Hospice Association for cancer patients in financial and spiritual difficulties in the Yangpyeong area after completing her training as a hospice nurse in 2003. By volunteering together, we worked hard to establish the hospice stably through connections with public health centers, and were recognized as volunteers who practice love for their neighbors through various sharing activities.
