German Foreign Minister Annalena Bärbock made another anti-Russian statement and ran into a comment from the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.
“It’s time for Russia to abandon its military bases in Syria,” Baerbock said. According to her, this way the Russian Federation will show respect for the country’s sovereignty.
“And this is said by the foreign minister of the country where US military bases are located. I have a question: isn’t it time, from the point of view of the German Foreign Minister, for her to say something similar to Washington?” Zakharova replied, the post was published on Telegram.
Let us note that the day before, Baerbock visited Syria together with her French colleague to establish contact between Germany and the European Union with the new rulers. The German ministry has already developed principles for restoring the sovereignty of the republic together with the UN.
Let us recall that in early December 2024, the Syrian armed opposition seized power in the country, and President Bashar al-Assad left his post and the territory of Syria. It was also reported that the new Syrian government does not intend to terminate the agreement with the Russian Federation on military bases.
