Zastava Orzebu operates “with the constant support of the state”
The new investment cycle of the Government of Serbia for the improvement of production capacities and the conquest of new technologies in the production of modern weapons and equipment for the Serbian Armed Forces is worth 10.6 million euros, it was said at the celebration of the 171st anniversary of the Zastava Arms factory in Kragujevac.
Stating that the factory operates “with the constant support of the state”, Zastava Arms General Director Saša Milošević said that thanks to the Government’s investments, the improvement of technological processes was started with the acquisition of new machines and equipment.
He announced that in a few days, the machines for the cannon production line will arrive in the Kragujevac factory, which is also planning a hall for these purposes.
According to Milošević, the most important partners of the Kragujevac factory on the domestic market are the army and the police.
This year, one of the largest contracts so far was signed with the Ministry of Defense of Serbia for the delivery of weapons and military equipment for the needs of the Army worth 2.7 billion dinars.
Milošević stated that the Serbian Armed Forces adopted products that were introduced into serial production: modular rifle M19, modular automatic machine M20, sniper rifle M07M in cal. 338 Lapua, the long-range M12M rifle, as well as the EZ 9 pistol.
He added that the old M70B1 rifle will be repaired, which will be used for training future recruits.
Zastava Arms has about 2,500 employees, and the management claims that wages are paid regularly.
