Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said today that Russian President Vladimir Putin has set the task of expelling Ukrainian forces from the Kursk region by January 20 “because it is important for him to show that he supposedly controls the situation.”

– For Putin, the most important thing is to push us out of the Kursk region. All these stories, all these indicators, strikes with new missiles, all this is not for nothing. He set this task. I’m sure he wants to kick us out by January 20th. It is crucial for him to show that he is in control of the situation. He is not in control of the situation – Zelensky told reporters during the 3rd international conference on food safety “Grain from Ukraine”, Ukrainian Interfax reports.

Zelenski added that the meeting with the newly elected US President Donald Trump depends on many things, especially on the legitimacy of its holding.

Also, he stated, preparatory meetings before Trump’s inauguration are possible. Zelensky pointed out that the recent G20 Summit was held with very weak support for Ukraine, noting that Brazilian President Luiz InĂ¡cio Lula da Silva “showed a weak side”.

– Brazil is a big country, I know… that most people support Ukraine, I want to thank you for that. Unfortunately, the G20 was held with very weak support for Ukraine – concluded Zelenski.
