Zelensky said that another German missile system “Patriot” has arrived in Ukraine

Ukraine has strengthened its air defense against Russian attacks with another German Patriot missile system.

“The German Patriot has arrived,” President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said in his late-night video address on Sunday, according to the German news agency dpa.

Germany thus delivered three Patriot air defense systems to Ukraine, and according to Zelenskiy, they are ready for deployment.

“We will be able to do more in the sky. Of course, there is still a lot to do, and protection is by no means guaranteed, but it is still a win for Ukraine,” added Zelensky.

In recent weeks, Zelensky has repeatedly emphasized that Ukraine needs additional air defense systems in order to achieve comprehensive protection of its territory.

The numbers he cited for the required Patriot systems range between six and 25. It is unclear exactly how many systems have been delivered so far and whether they are all operational.

The newly manufactured Patriot costs more than a billion dollars, with 400 million dollars for the system and 690 million dollars for the missiles in the battery, according to the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

The company Rajteon has built more than 240 Patriot systems and they are currently used by 18 countries, including the United States of America. The system was in high demand in the Middle East due to the threat posed by Iran to the region.
