The beginning of October every year is reserved for an event that brings together numerous architects and colleagues from related professions who are interested in trends in the field of sustainability and energy efficiency. The International Congress “Sustainable Architecture – Energy Efficiency” was held for the seventh time in the premises of the Yugoslav Cinematheque from October 4 to 6 this year.

Lectures were held by ten eminent experts from all over the world, and they concern the field sustainable, ecological and energy-efficient architecture and design.
Based on recent projects by the lecturers themselves, the goal of this congress is to try to answer the question: Why have sustainable architecture and energy efficiency become so important in the world?
In this way, world trends in architecture that concern use are brought closer to the professional and general public of our country renewable energy sources and “green construction”from the creation of an architectural project to the construction of the building itself.
In this process, materials and equipment are chosen that are less harmful to the environment, the production and use of which reduces harmful CO emissions.2and recycled materials are increasingly being used in accordance with the principles of the circular economy.
Digitizationas an important segment of buildings today, is becoming more and more important because a more energy-efficient solution can be achieved by using smart monitoring and control systems, which facilitates the exploitation of the building and its maintenance.
As a very important topic of this congress, the question arose whether it is better to resort to the demolition and rebuilding of buildings that have fallen into disrepair or to reconstruct old buildings with all the challenges that this entails.
The participants learned that more and more modern ways of processing wood as a natural material are used for construction, as well as recycled materialsand all of this contributes to savings in the consumption of new resources, which together improves sustainability, energy efficiency and environmental impact.

In addition to the lectures, an exhibition was held by the sponsors of the congress who presented novelties in the form of ecological materials, products and equipment.
The multimedia exhibition of brands also took part ZG Lighting SRB – sales office Belgrade and thus for the third time supported this important congress and important topics that touch on ecology and energy.
