At the end of June, the city of Zrenjanin announced a public call for grants to households to reduce air pollution by switching to a more environmentally friendly emergent. The original deadline, which was until August 31, was extended until September 30.

The extension was approved after the original deadline for submitting applications proved to be too short for the collection of necessary documentation by interested citizens.

As a reminder, the Public Invitation was issued on the basis of the Rulebook on reducing air pollution by switching to a more environmentally friendly energy source for households in the city of Zrenjanin for 2024 and the Agreement on co-financing the implementation of the project to reduce air pollution from individual sources in 2024 in the city of Zrenjanin signed by the Republic of Serbia – the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the City of Zrenjanin in March of this year, according to the City’s website.

Beneficiaries of grants are households (family houses) that have a fuel source (coal/fuel oil/heating oil/wood) and want to replace the existing fuel source (fire source) with a more environmentally friendly fuel source (natural gas boilers, biomass boilers/wood pellets, briquettes) , wood chips, heat pumps).

The owner of the facility can submit an application for only one measure and one facility.

As stated, owners of special parts of residential and commercial buildings that are not used for housing, as well as households that already have the possibility of connecting to district heating, are not entitled to participate.

The share of incentive funds for the following measures amounts to:

  • Procurement and installation of natural gas boilers by replacing existing devices (fireplaces – coal/fuel oil/heating oil/wood) by switching to a more environmentally friendly energy source (space heaters), for family homes. The share of incentive funds is 50 percent of the value of the total investment including VAT, per individual application, and a maximum of RSD 85,000 including VAT. The minimum efficiency of a natural gas boiler (space heater) is 90 percent.
  • Procurement and installation of biomass boilers (wood pellets, briquettes, chips), replacing existing appliances (fireplaces – coal/fuel oil/heating oil/wood), space heaters (boiler or stove) for family homes. The share of incentive funds is 50 percent of the value of the total investment including VAT per individual application, and a maximum of 110,000 dinars including VAT for biomass boilers (pellets and wood chips). The minimum degree of usefulness of a boiler (space heater) on biomass (wood pellets, briquettes, wood chips) is 85 percent.
  • Procurement and installation of heat pumps, replacing existing devices (fireplaces-coal/fuel oil/heating oil/wood) for family houses. The share of incentive funds is 50 percent of the value of the total investment including VAT per individual application, and a maximum of 200,000 dinars including VAT per application.
