Zrenjanin: the deadline for the Public Call for the allocation of funds to reduce air pollution has been extended

The city of Zrenjanin previously distributed a public call for grants to households to reduce air pollution by switching to a more environmentally friendly energy source. The original application deadline, which was until July 31, was extended until August 30, according to the website of the City of Zrenjanin.

The extension of the deadline followed as the initial deadline for submitting applications proved to be too short for the collection of necessary documentation by interested citizens.

As a reminder, the Public Invitation was issued on the basis of the Rulebook on reducing air pollution by switching to a more environmentally friendly energy source for households in the city of Zrenjanin for 2024 and the Agreement on co-financing the implementation of the project to reduce air pollution from individual sources in 2024 in the city of Zrenjanin signed by the Republic of Serbia – the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the City of Zrenjanin in March of this year.

The subject of co-financing includes several measures to reduce air pollution originating from individual combustion plants.

  • Procurement and installation of natural gas boilers by replacing existing devices (fireplaces – coal/fuel oil/heating oil/wood) by switching to a more environmentally friendly energy source (space heaters), for family homes. The share of incentive funds is 50 percent of the value of the total investment including VAT. per individual application, and a maximum of 85,000 dinars including VAT. The minimum efficiency of a natural gas boiler (space heater) is 90 percent.
  • Procurement and installation of biomass boilers (wood pellets, briquettes, chips), replacing existing devices (fireplaces – coal/fuel oil/heating oil/wood), space heaters (boiler or stove), for family homes. The share of incentive funds is 50 percent of the value of the total investment including VAT per individual application, and a maximum of 110,000 dinars including VAT for biomass boilers (pellets and wood chips). The minimum degree of usefulness of a boiler (space heater) on biomass (wood pellets, briquettes, wood chips) is 85 percent.
  • Procurement and installation of heat pumps, replacing existing devices (fireplaces – coal/fuel oil/heating oil/wood) for family houses. The share of incentive funds is 50 percent of the value of the total investment including VAT per individual application, and a maximum of 200,000 dinars including VAT per application.

Beneficiaries of grants are households (family houses), and the owner of the facility can only submit an application for one measure and one facility.

The right to participate in the competition is for households living in family houses, which meet the conditions in accordance with the public invitation.

Establishing an energy management system

The city of Zrenjanin made a decision to establish the city’s energy management system. As stated, the goal of the energy management system of the city of Zrenjanin is to harmonize the local energy policy with the national planning and strategic goals and priorities in reducing energy consumption, i.e. energy costs that are paid from the city budget.

All this while achieving and maintaining the appropriate quality of comfort in public buildings, the use of renewable energy sources, with the maximum use of resources from one’s own territory, creating the conditions for different energy sources to be available and affordable to a different number of users of the public buildings sector, as well as reducing the negative impact on the environment , both due to energy use and due to other activities.
